Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering (ENTC) of the University of Moratuwa celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. ENVOYAGE forum and dinner, organized by the Electronic Club was held on 7th November at Eagles' Lakeside Banquet & Convocation Hall, Attidiya. The Academic staff, ENTC alumni, industry leaders and students all gathered up to discuss what the future holds for the Electronics and Telecommunications industry. The forum which was directed by Dr. Ajith Pasquel was a massive brainstorming session for not only the students but also for all the individuals who attended. Its importance was extensive to the students as a large number of their questions was thoroughly answered by the current industry leaders. A very good message was transmitted to the students by them, nobody knows what the future holds precisely, one must be ready to take up the challenge. Subsequently, the contribution by the electronics industry in Sri Lanka to the national economy was properly reviewed. An official from the SLINTEC (Sri Lanka Institute of Nano Technology) revealed a huge opportunity for entrepreneurs in the country to look at, the involvement of Graphene with the semiconductor manufacturing. It has a great potential to grow as the Sri Lanka produces some of the world's purest Graphene. However, one thing was clear, Sri Lanka needs more entrepreneurs to stand up! It was not just about the industry, there were numerous entertainment items performed by the students which were presented during the feast, even the alumni engaged in singing. It was a night full of joy, various fun games were held.
Prof. K.K.Y.W. Perera (Chancellor and Professor Emeritus), Prof. K.K.C.K. Perera (Vice-Chancellor of University of Moratuwa), Prof. N.K. Wickramarachchi (Dean, Faculty of Engineering) graced the occasion with their presence.
